How my Ayurvedic Cleanse Contributed to more Lightness

Last week, I had the pleasure of hosting my friend Ewa, an Ayurvedic Wellness Coach, to share her expertise on doing a cleanse at home. Her words from last year resonated deeply – the importance of saying good-bye to winter’s heaviness and embracing the lighter energies of spring. Gratefully, I sought her guidance, and it was encouraging and felt easy to manage.

Listening to my intuition, I felt doing this cleanse during Easter knowing I had both space and time. I am trusting my inner voice more and more, especially in navigating the challenges of balancing business and personal well-being. I have learned that cleansing is not just about detoxing the body; it is also a profound journey of releasing blocked emotions.

It is interesting how, whether by coincidence or intention, subconscious issues often surface like a dormant volcano 🌋 during a cleanse. This time, it was the overwhelming feeling or fear of becoming overwhelmed and losing my balance with all of my creations – a sentiment familiar to many entrepreneurs juggling multiple responsibilities. Despite believing I had previously addressed and left this issue behind, I sensed the heaviness beneath that needed acknowledgement and acceptance. Consulting my coach, I gained conscious clarity on the broader context and it took some time to release the energy from my body. Yet, with Easter providing the space, it was good timing. While some may question the timing of such a cleanse during Easter, I have learned not to concern myself with others’ judgments. It was easy to skip the Easter cake during a family visit. It is amazing to feel how fast new energy enters the body and clears the mind.

What amazes me is the renewed gratitude for food. Consuming the same food for a few days, adding different veggies brings me back to valuing food so much more. It is easy to forget the abundance we are gifted with every day. While many are familiar with the concepts of fasting and detoxing, my own journey began relatively recently with my first detox in Bali a few years back. During the past years I have understood and embodied why this ancient tradition around fasting and cleansing the body and mind has so many values and why it is so important to let go of stuff that is no longer useful, be it toxins from food, from life-style choices or from emotional baggage or all of it.

Originally, I wanted to move out of the cleanse today, but while I was writing I decided to extend it slightly, preparing my kitchari (rice and mung beans) once more, choosing for a gentle transition tomorrow. Duration does not matter at this point. My commitment and responsibility for my well-being matters, ensuring I enter the spring season with lighter baggage. Step by step growing out of limitations and moving into a higher version of myself and serving with lightness. I love it.

Let’s release baggage and travel light 💫.

Much love,

Marijana
